JLPT N3 बिन्दुबोध (Point Comprehension) कार्यहरूका लागि रणनीतिहरू

Understanding the Format

The Point Comprehension (ポイント理解) section in the JLPT N3 Listening test consists of six questions. In this task, you are asked a specific question before the audio begins. You must listen to a short dialogue and select the correct answer from four choices. The key to this section is not understanding every word, but identifying the specific information requested in the prompt.

The Anatomy of a Question

Before the audio plays, you will hear a question like: 「男の人は、このあとまず何をしますか?」 (What will the man do first after this?). You have a few seconds to read the four options. If you do not read the options during the short pause, you will struggle to filter the relevant information from the conversation.

Worked Example

Imagine the following scenario:

Question: 男の人は、このあとまず何をしますか? (What will the man do first?)

女:あ、田中さん。会議の資料だけど、もうコピーしてくれた? 男:あ、すみません。今からやるところです。あ、その前に、部長から電話があったから、先に電話をかけ直さないと。 女:そう。じゃあ、急いでね。 男:はい。じゃあ、電話してからコピーします。

Options:

  1. 会議の資料を作る (Create meeting materials)
  2. 部長に電話をかける (Call the manager)
  3. 資料をコピーする (Copy the materials)
  4. 部長に会いに行く (Go to meet the manager)

Analysis: The man mentions copying materials, but then corrects himself, stating he must call the manager first (先に電話をかけ直さないと). The correct answer is 2. The distractor here is the copying, which is mentioned as a later action.

Distractor Logic

N3 examiners use specific distractor tactics:

  1. Chronological Traps: The speaker mentions two actions, but uses a sequence word like 「その前に」 (before that) or 「〜してから」 (after doing X). Always listen for time-marker particles and conjunctions.
  2. Change of Mind: The speaker starts to do one thing but is interrupted or changes their plan. Look for 「やっぱり」 (on second thought) or 「あ、待てよ」 (wait a minute).
  3. Negative Form: The speaker might say what they will not do. Pay close attention to verb endings like 「〜ないで」 or 「〜やめておきます」.
