Rule

Godan: various endings (ku->ite, gu->ide, u/tsu/ru->tte, mu/nu/bu->nde, su->shite). Ichidan: drop ru add te. Irregular: suru->shite, kuru->kite.

Worked examples

ikimasu->itte, tabemasu->tabete, shimasu->shite

Exceptions

iku -> itte (exception to the u/tsu/ru rule)
