Used for

Expressing an intention to do something or making an invitation (let's do).

Rule

For Ichidan verbs, replace ru with yō. For Godan verbs, change the final u-row vowel to the corresponding o-row vowel and add ū. For irregular verbs, suru becomes shiyō and kuru becomes koyō.

Worked examples

見る (みる) → 見よう (みよう) 買う (かう) → 買おう (かおう) する → しよう
