Expressing that something was true about an i-adjective in the past.

Rule

Remove the final -i and add -かった (-katta).

Worked examples

高い → 高かった (takai → takakatta), 楽しい → 楽しかった (tanoshii → tanoshikatta), 忙しい → 忙しかった (isogashii → isogashikatta)

Exceptions

よい (yoi) / いい (ii) changes to よかった (yokatta).
