Negating the quality of an i-adjective.

Rule

Remove the final -i and add -くない (-kunai).

Worked examples

高い → 高くない (takai → takakunai), 寒い → 寒くない (samui → samukunai), 面白い → 面白くない (omoshiroi → omoshirokunai)

Exceptions

いい (ii) must be treated as よい (yoi) before negating, becoming よくない (yokunai).
