Used for

Expressing a conditional 'if' condition, often used for general truths or natural consequences.

Rule

For Ichidan verbs, replace ru with reba. For Godan verbs, change the final u-row vowel to the e-row vowel and add ba. For adjectives, replace final i with kereba (for i-adjectives) or add nareba (for na-adjectives).

Worked examples

行く (いく) → 行けば (いけば) 食べる (たべる) → 食べれば (たべれば) 高い (たかい) → 高ければ (たかければ)
