How it works

Attaches to nouns to express an extent, a limit, or proportional change (the more A, the more B).

Example

Shinu hodo isogshii desu. I am busy to the extent of dying.

Versus

くらい (kurai) denotes general approximation, whereas ほど (hodo) emphasizes a high degree or proportional extreme.
